Poll Shows Caitlyn Jenner's Gender Change Hasn't Changed Minds

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new poll shows Caitlyn Jenner's recent transition from male to female, and the impossible-to-escape publicity surrounding it, wasn't a watershed moment.

Quinnipiac University conducted the poll from June 4th to 15th, not long after Jenner's announcement, in the swing states Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Assistant Director Tim Malloy says the results from the 1,131 Pennsylvanians polled aren't that surprising.

"Forty-two percent of the women we surveyed have a favorable opinion of this, and only twenty-seven percent of men."

Malloy says it doesn't appear the former Olympian reality star's transition will make anyone more or less accepting of transgender people.

"While generally, in these three states, Pennsylvania in particular, people are in support, most don't think is gonna strike an important step forward for transgender people, not necessarily gonna help them that much."
