Poll Released By Lynne Abraham Shows She Leads Mayor's Race

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A poll commissioned by mayoral candidate Lynne Abraham shows, perhaps not surprisingly, that Abraham herself leads the mayor's race.

The poll was conducted by a Washington-based firm called "The Mellman Group" on behalf of Lynne Abraham. The former District Attorney is considered one of three front-runners in the mayor's race, along with State Senator Tony Williams and former councilman Jim Kenney.

The telephone poll of 500 likely registered voters was conducted two weeks ago, and it showed Abraham supported by 30-percent of those questioned, compared to 14-percent each for Williams and Kenney.

The other three candidates -- Nelson Diaz, Milton Street and Doug Oliver -- each polled below ten percent.

The big wildcards are the undecideds -- 29-percent of those surveyed haven't made up their minds with the primary about eight weeks away.
