Poll: Corbett, SRC Don't Make The Grade For Public Education

By Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A new poll says Philadelphia voters don't think much of how the governor or the School Reform Commission are handling public education.

Voters give poor education grades to Governor Corbett and the SRC. The poll by Hart Research commissioned by the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers says 74-percent of voters are dissatisfied with how the Governor has dealt with public education. 69-percent of Philadelphia school parents disapprove of the SRC's actions.

When asked about the ongoing teacher negotiations, voters sided with the union by a 4-1 margin. And by 6-1, voters think the SRC should continue talks, rather than imposing terms on teachers.
