Political Watchdog Group Holds Annual Post Election Luncheon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- More than 600 business and civic leaders attended the annual post-election luncheon on Thursday, hosted by the political watchdog group, Committee of Seventy.

Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney encouraged people to remain active in democracy.

"It's hard for people to get their bearings. So we gotta bring things back to the middle, get people to agree on a set of facts, which is sometimes hard to do, and get on with it. I say to people, this is the only democracy we have, so we gotta make it work."

Kenney praised the work of the Committee of Seventy.

"It's nice to have a group of people who are willing to put in their own personal time to make our region better."

And he said he's cautiously optimistic moving forward, hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.
