Police: Woman's Lip Removed After Her Bulldog Attacked Her

BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) — Police say a Cape Cod woman had to have her lower lip removed at a hospital after her American bulldog attacked her at her home.

Barnstable police Officer Tom Harmon said Sunday that the 9-year-old dog bit the woman's face around 2:40 p.m. Saturday.

Harmon says the woman's injuries are not considered life-threatening. She was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth and later airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Harmon says police have never had complaints about the dog prior to the incident. The woman has owned the animal since it was a puppy. It's been placed in a 10-day quarantine.
