Newark Police Investigate Attempted Robbery Of University Of Delaware Student

NEWARK, Del., (CBS) – Police are investigating an attempted robbery of a University of Delaware student.

It happened at about 7 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of West Park Place and Apple Road in Newark.

According to Newark Police, the 19-year-old female victim was walking westbound on West Park Place when she was approached from behind by the suspect.

Police say the suspect grabbed the victim from behind, displayed a knife and demanded her property. When the victim told the suspect she had no property, police say he pushed her to the ground and fled northbound on Apple Road.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Police say officers and K9 responded to the scene, however, the suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5'6" to 5'11" tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket with the hood pulled up over his head.
