Police: Suspect Wanted In 2 Bank Robberies In South Jersey Caught In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police have caught the man they believe is responsible for robbing two banks.

Michael Taggart of Gloucester Township was taken into custody around 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

He was captured outside of a hotel on the 1200 block of Race Street in Philadelphia by Philadelphia and Camden task force members.

Taggart is accused of robbing the Beneficial Bank at 483 Cross Keys Road in Gloucester Township on Feb. 10, 2015 and of robbing the Susquehanna Bank at 305 South White Horse Pike in Lawnside on Tuesday.

In both robberies, police say he passed a demand note to the cashier and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Taggart is charged with two counts of robbery and is currently being held in Philadelphia and awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
