Police: Suspect Sought in Series of Philadelphia Armed Robberies

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect wanted in a series of armed robberies.

His face may be partially covered, but he is caught on surveillance cameras and the video is quite clear. Police are convinced someone, familiar with the suspect, will recognize him and help police get him off the street before he strikes again.

Lt. John Walker said, "He has a unique walk where you see his left leg buckles at some point. Each time he pulls his gun out and points at people which is what we're concerned about. We think he's not getting much money so he may continue on."

So far, police say two corner stores have been robbed in just five days. The first occurred last Saturday at 58th and Hadfield Streets. The second robbery was reported on Wednesday at 62nd and Market Streets. Both robberies, police believe, were committed by the same man.

Walker explained, "The same gun is used in the same hand and the same words are being used in both cases."

According to police, the suspect is after just one thing: Cash. Once his demands are met, police say he leaves. In one of the incidents, he is seen arriving in a dark colored sedan. Police believe he is acting alone and are relived so far, he has not hurt his victims.

"They have been complying which is what we ask our business owners to do. There's no need to resist these attempts to rob. Provide the money and notify the police," Walker said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Philadelphia Police Department's tip line: 215-646-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
