Police: Suspect Flees Bar Fight, Accidentally Shoots Himself

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (AP) — Police say an a suspect's attempt to flee the scene of a brawl outside a Cherry Hill bar was cut short when he accidentally shot himself in the "lower body."

Officers responded to reports of a fight outside the Craft House and Beer Garden on Route 70 around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police say a woman jumped on 23-year-old Daniel Allen Jr.'s back during the melee, and when officers approached, the Pennsauken resident ran off.

Officers eventually caught up with Allen after hearing a gunshot in the distance. He was treated at Cooper University Hospital.

Allen was charged with possession of a weapon.

It's not known if he has a lawyer who can comment on the charge.
