Police: Stray Bullet Strikes Crib In Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del., (CBS) – Police say a stray bullet struck a crib where a child was sleeping during a shooting that left a man injured in Edgemoor Gardens, Delaware.

At about 5:47 p.m. Monday, New Castle County Police say they responded to Bedford Drive in reference to a person that had been shot.

Investigators say police arrived to find a male in his 20's who suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the lower extremity.   He was taken to the hospital and is considered stable at this time, according to police.

Police say one of the rounds traveled into a nearby residence and struck a portable crib where a small child was sleeping.  Police say the child was not harmed.

According to police, two suspects allegedly fled on foot from the scene.  County police patrol units checked the area extensively, but police say they were unable to locate the suspects at this time.

Police say this investigation is still in its early stages and further details will be released when available.
