Police: Standoff In West Kensington Ends With Arrest, No Injuries

By Al Novack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police say a standoff in West Kensington Wednesday morning is over. One man was taken into custody.

The SWAT team was stationed outside a home near the intersection of North Masher and West Huntingdon streets for several hours.

Police say this all started when the 20-year-old suspect pistol whipped a neighbor during an argument. The suspect then ran to the home he shares with his 73-year-old grandfather and locked himself inside.

Negotiators called the suspect but they were unsuccessful in getting him to come out. Hours later, they used a bull horn and the suspect turned surrendered peacefully.

Two handguns were confiscated at the house.

No injuries were reported.
