"You have somebody out there, a conductor that's working and he gets shot and you know, you still have these people running around, don't want to see anybody else hurt," said John Appledorn from the Citizens Crime Commission.

Investigators say it was a robbery, the conductor walked right into it, stepping out of the train.

Police say he defended himself, that's when he was shot once in the hip.

At a news conference Monday, Septa administrators announced a $6,000 reward for information on the shooter and his accomplice.

"That's why it is so important to us to get these two people off the street, they're responsible for what happened and we're going to catch them," said Chief Tom Nestel from Septa police.

Philadelphia Police Captain Sekou Kinebrew said his department hasn't received any information suggesting the shooting is part of a larger operation targeting regional rails and transit authority employees.

"It's two males, both African American, both wearing hooded sweat shirts, both have print on the sweatshirts, one has GAP and the other we can't tell what the writing is but it's some sort of lettering on the front of that shirt," said Captain Sekou Kinebrew.
