by Suzanne Monaghan

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Philadelphia police are searching for a man posing as a PGW employee who made his way into the home of an elderly woman in Northwest Philadelphia.

The 96-year-old woman was home along the 6900 block of Crittenden Street on July 8th when a man claiming to be a PGW employee rang the bell.

He said there was a gas leak coming from her house that was contaminating the water line. Police say the woman refused to let him in, but when she opened the door slightly, he pushed the door open and made his way through the house.

The suspect eventually left. The woman was not injured but she told police a diamond ring was missing. There is surveillance video of the suspect outside the woman's door.
