Police Searching For Suspect Wanted For Carjacking In West Oak Lane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are searching for the suspect in an armed carjacking and robbery that happened in the city's West Oak Lane section.

On June 23rd at 4:33 a.m., a 35-year-old male was reportedly putting air in his vehicle's tires at a Sunoco at 17th and Cheltenham Avenue when the suspect approached him with a handgun.

The victim was able to back away and run to safety, at which time the suspect entered his vehicle, a 2010 Nissan Maxima, and fled south from the gas station.

Police later located the victim's car in the rear of the 1900 block of Dallas Street but did not locate the suspect.

The suspect is said to be a black male between 20 and 30 years old who is about 5'9" and has a stocky build. He was wearing a black ball cap, a black shirt, dark colored pants and was armed with a handgun.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
