Police Searching For Suspect After Pursuit Ends In Manayunk

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for a driver who led officers on a pursuit through Philadelphia early Thursday morning.

The incident began at about 7:30 a.m. with the report of a stolen van.

Officers began to pursue the stolen van until the driver lost control and went down an embankment near Flat Rock Road, next to the Schuylkill River.

After crashing the van, the suspect got out and either fled through a wooded area or possibly jumped into the river.

Members of the Philadelphia Police Marine Unit were at the scene searching the river.

The incident remains under investigation.
