Police Searching For Missing College Student Last Seen At Bar In Manayunk

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police are looking for a West Chester University student who went missing early Thanksgiving Day morning after going bar hopping with friends in Manayunk.

Shane Montgomery had just turned 21, went out to Kildaire's Irish Pub in Manayunk and never made it home.

Karen Montgomery, Shane's mother, says he came home from college and he, a cousin and a few friends went out Wednesday night to celebrate their first Thanksgiving-eve celebration as 21-year-olds. But they became separated during their night out.

"Shane walked into a bar stool and one of the bouncers told him that he would have to leave," Karen says.

That was 1 a.m. Thursday and no one has seen Shane since then. The family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Shane -- who is described as a 5'11 white man, weighing around 135 pounds with a celtic cross tattooed on his back.

"It spans to wing span to wing span almost -- and down the center of his back," explains Karen.

He was last seen wearing a grey shirt.

Shane's mother and his father, Kevin,  are struggling, stricken with fear of what might have happened.

"Pretty much exhausted but just find the strength to keep going," Kevin says. We're gonna find him, that's the bottom line."

After Shane's parents asked for help, flyers were placed all over electrical poles in Manayunk and a social media campaign ramped up. In fact, #HelpFindShane was trending on twitter Friday night.

Dozens of volunteers helped search for the student. Police will continue their search Saturday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-3353.
