CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- Police are searching for a man accused of impersonating a police officer inside a Camden, New Jersey convenience store.

Camden County police say the incident that sparked their search took place a 7 p.m. Wednesday at the New York Mini Market along the 1300 block of Kaighns Avenue near Haddon Avenue.

Police say a man wearing a #40 Gayle Sayers Chicago Bears jersey entered the store, lifted the jersey to show an undershirt with "police" written on the front. Authorities say he also had a gun in his waistband, asked to buy a ski mask, and told a store clerk he was an undercover cop.

All of this was caught on tape. The suspect left wearing the ski mask.

Police say he's known to frequent the area of Thurman and Newport Streets.
