Police Investigate Deadly Shooting Of Delivery Driver In Delaware County

YEADON, Pa. (CBS) -- Police are on the hunt for a suspect wanted in the murder of a 63-year-old man in Delaware County.

Authorities say Thomas Childs was killed after being shot outside Ridgway Industries in Yeadon.

Authorities say the incident happened Tuesday morning around 3:45 a.m. at a loading dock on the 6200 block of Baltimore Avenue.

Childs was employed at Ridway Industries for 15 years. He was reportedly on his way to make a delivery in New York when he was shot.

"I was overwhelmed with grief and it was just so shocking to hear about it this morning," Childs' boss Brad Daggy told Eyewitness News.

Daggy runs Ridgway Industries, a Yeadon company that makes and sells cleaning products to restaurants.

"Something has to be done about this. This guy has to be caught and taken off the streets," Daggy said.

Childs' family released the following statement on Tuesday night:

"Tom Childs was a hard working man. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who was loved by all who came in contact with him. We are deeply saddened by this senseless tragedy and request that members of the media will respect our privacy during this trying time."

Officials describe the suspect as a light-skinned black male, 22 to 24-years-old, about 5'4"-5'6", weighing 180 pounds with a slight mustache. He was wearing a light grey hoodie.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident should contact police.
