Officials Investigating After 2-Year-Old Boy's Body Pulled From Pond At Mobile Home Park

SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) — Authorities are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy after his body was pulled from a pond at a mobile home park.

New Jersey State Police were called to the Mobile Estates of Southampton on James Avenue around 11 a.m. after the child was reported missing by his mother.

Crews pulled 2-year-old Adam Reed from the pond and they tried CPR, but it was too late. The young boy was pronounced dead.

"Our hearts go out to the family. It's always a horrible thing when you have to respond to a child that's hurt or injured or, in this case, unfortunately deceased," said New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeff Flynn.

"We saw a little boy in the lake and the state trooper pulled him out the lake, and non-stop CPR, pumping on his chest, and it didn't look good. It was definitely the worst-case scenario," said neighbor Richard Ellis Jr.

Officials have not yet said how the boy died.

Family members are in contact with authorities. At this point, no one has been charged with a crime.
