$20K Reward Offered After Police Patrol Car Struck By Bullet In Pemberton
PEMBERTON, N.J., (CBS) – Police are investigating after they say a marked Pemberton Township patrol vehicle was struck by a bullet Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 3:45 p.m. while the patrol vehicle was parked in the intersection of Lemmon Avenue and Norcross Lane.
The bullet struck the roof but did not penetrate the interior compartment.
The Pemberton Township police officer in the car was not injured.
On Thursday, the NJ Cop Shot program posted a $20,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
New Jersey State PBA President Patrick Colligan said, "This is just the latest in an alarming recent trend of shooting at police in New Jersey. This suspect had the full intent to kill an officer and only missed by inches. Someone out there knows who this suspect is and we hope the reward will give them the incentive to come forward."
Authorities say it is unknown at this time what prompted the shooting and it remains under investigation.
