Police Officer Struck In Montco Hit-Run

WHITPAIN TWP., Pa. (CBS) – Authorities say a police officer was struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday evening in Montgomery County.

This happened around 6:00 p.m. near North Wales Road and Pulaski Drive in Whitpain Township.

The officer was taken to Einstein Hospital in stable condition with minor injuries to his leg. He is expected to be okay.

Neighbors tell CBS 3 Eyewitness News the Whitpain Township officer was out looking for a missing dog when he was struck. They say the officer was alert when he was being taken away in the ambulance.

Officials say the driver of the striking vehicle stopped momentarily, then fled the scene in his car going North on North Wales Road.

The car is described as a small, dark Sedan with tinted windows. Anyone with information is asked to call 610-279-9033.
