Police: No Public Papal Events Planned Around Saint Charles Borremeo Seminary

WYNNEWOOD, Pa. (CBS) -- There are helicopter landings and take-offs at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary today. An example of the some of the preparations for the Pope's travel around the region this weekend.

Lower Merion police superintendent Michael McGrath says anyone planning to come out around the seminary in hopes of catching a glimpse of the Pope should know there are no planned public events.

"Whether or not anybody who wants to venture out there is actually going to have an opportunity to see Pope Francis, that's unknown."

McGrath says anyone hoping for interaction with the Pope should plan to go to one of the parades in Philadelphia on Saturday before the Festival of Families, or Sunday before the Parkway Mass. But McGrath stresses there is no plan for parade-type travel around the seminary.

"It's just a movement of his transportation and that's not done in a slow fashion where you're going to get a chance for interaction."

McGrath also reminds residents Lancaster Avenue and City Avenue will be especially busy with all the events and the road closures, and all neighborhoods surrounding the Seminary are no parking or permit parking only.
