Police: Murder Suspect Allegedly Tried To Run Over Two Police Officers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Police say a suspect believed to be wanted for murder tried to run over two officers during a car stop early Wednesday morning.

Police officers attempted to stop the car near near Elbridge Street and Roosevelt Boulevard after running the vehicle's plates. According to police, the car's plates were registered to a suspect wanted in connection with a murder.

When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the car accelerated toward the two 15th district police officers.

The officers escaped without injury.

The suspect drove off in a white Mercury Grand Prix with rear bumper damage and Pennsylvania plates.
