Police: Man Stole Thousands Of Dollars In Merchandise From Philly Supermarket

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for a suspect who was caught on tape on several occasions stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from a supermarket in Philadelphia.

The thefts happened at the Whole Foods Market in the 900 block of South Street in the city's Washington Square section.

The first theft happened at about 9:30 a.m. on March 8th. The suspect entered the store and went directly to the meat counter. Once at the meat counter, the suspect placed assorted meats inside his bag and then left the store without paying.

Investigators say the same suspect returned to the same Whole Foods two separate times on March 15th. This time, the suspect went to the meat counter and the seafood counter and took several items before walking out without paying.

In all, investigators say the suspect stole thousands of dollars in merchandise.
