Police: Store Ckerk Shot 3 Times During Robbery In Germantown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police say a man was shot three times during a robbery inside a corner store in Germantown Wednesday night and the gunman is on the loose.

It happened just after 8:30 p.m. at the store on the 1200 block of North Stafford Street.

Police say when they arrived, they found a 53-year-old employee of the store shot once in the face and twice in the thigh . He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Witnesses say the shooter was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask and was armed with a silver semi automatic handgun.

In addition to the shooting, police say the suspect stole a undetermined amount of cash. He then fled the scene on foot, heading west on Stafford Street.

Police say there were other employees and customers inside the store at the time of the shooting, including the store's owner who was holding a two-year-old baby behind the counter during the incident, although no other injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation continues, although there were no surveillance cameras in the store at the time of the shooting.
