PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia police are searching for a man they say fled officers after a chase and a left a 3-year-old boy and a loaded gun behind in the car.

It happened at about 7 p.m. Wednesday when police pulled over a Chevrolet Impala in west Philadelphia. Police say the man behind the wheel took off and led them on a chase that ended in Upper Darby.

Authorities say the man bailed out of the vehicle and fled toward the woods, where police lost him. Officers found a 3-year-old boy in the passenger seat next to a loaded handgun.

Investigators are talking to the boy's mother, who owns the vehicle involved in the chase.

The boy wasn't harmed.
