Police: Man Flashes Handgun To Rob Shoes And Cash From Center City Store

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect they say robbed a store in Center City in the middle of the afternoon.

Police say on January 14 around 1:18 p.m., an unknown male entered the Ubiq store on the 1500 block of Walnut Street and took three pairs of shoes to the cash register.

Authorities say as the suspect was getting ready to pay for the shoes, he showed the employee a handgun and said he wanted everything for free and cash from the register.

Police say after the worker complied with the suspect's demands, he fled the scene and was last seen east on Walnut Street headed towards 15th.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 20-years-old, 5'7", 145 pounds. He was wearing a dark gray jacket, jeans, black sneakers with orange laces and was armed with a handgun.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police urge anyone with information on the suspect or the robbery to contact 911.
