Police: Man Dies After Being Shot Multiple Times At Point Blank Range

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are investigating an overnight murder in Cobbs Creek in which an unidentified man was shot several times at close range.
Police say medics were called to the area of 55th and Sansom Streets a little before midnight to transport a man seen bleeding from his head to an area hospital.
But once on scene, medics discovered the victim had been shot four times, and as Chief Inspector Scott Small tells CBS 3 Eyewitness News, those shots were fired at point blank range.
"The shell casings are actually in the crime scene. So it's an indication that shooter fired off six shots from very, very close range. This appears it was sort of an execution-type shooting."
Small says the victim, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead around 12:30 a.m.
Small says homicide investigators are still trying to find a motive in the shooting, and that they're hoping surveillance cameras in the area can help identify a suspect.
