Police: Man Crushed To Death By 2,000 Pounds Of Garbage In NE Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating a deadly industrial accident in Northeast Philadelphia.

A worker was crushed to death by a ton of recycled paper at the Waste Management plant on Bleigh Avenue on Tuesday.

Investigators say the 42-year-old worker was inspecting his forklift when another worker, on a forklift, made contact with other materials. That contact caused a domino effect of falling material which landed on the victim.

No word on his identity or what caused the accident.
