Police: Man Being Pursued Jumps Into Schuylkill River

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man being pursued by Amtrak Police on the tracks near 30th Street Station allegedly jumped in the Schuylkill River to escape.

The man reportedly jumped from the Market Street Bridge and into the river at 30th Street.

While searching for him, police recovered a bag with a gun in it.

The man has not yet surfaced and a police marine unit is currently searching the water.

It is unclear at this time why an initial pursuit started.
