Police: 1 Dead Following Wilmington Shooting

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Police say a person has died following a shooting in Wilmington, Delaware.

Wilmington Police say at about 1:47 p.m. Monday, a police unit on patrol reported shots fired in the area of the 600 block of W. 6th Street.

According to police, an officer found a male suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso area.

Police say the 25-year-old man was taken to Christiana Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A female suffered an abrasion on her back from debris associated with the shooting incident, according to police.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

There is no word on a suspect or motive at this time.
