Police Make Arrest In Hit-And-Run That Injured Philadelphia Officer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – An arrest has been made in Friday's hit-and-run that left a Philadelphia police lieutenant injured.

Philadelphia Police say 24-year-old Kendall Davis, of Philadelphia, was arrested on Friday for his involvement in the accident.

According to police, the lieutenant was driving an unmarked police vehicle when he was struck by another vehicle at 13th and Market Streets.

When the lieutenant activated his light and sirens to stop the vehicle, police say it fled the scene. After going over police radio, other responding officers in marked police vehicles located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. Police say the vehicle fled again and officers followed until the vehicle came to a stop at 5th and Oxford Streets.

According to police, the driver exited the vehicle and fled into a warehouse and later apprehended by K-9 and SWAT.

Police say the passenger fled but was apprehended by members of the juvenile enforcement team and a second passenger was apprehended in the vehicle.

The lieutenant sustained minor injuries and will seek treatment.

Police say Davis is charged with Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Assault, Fleeing Police, and related offenses.

Central detectives and Accident Investigation Division are investigating this incident.
