Police Involved Shooting Takes Place In Ocean County

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) — Authorities in New Jersey say the man who was shot by police after they say he drew a gun on officers is expected to survive.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says officers in Toms River were approaching a suspicious vehicle late Thursday when 29-year-old Timothy Sauers pointed a gun at them. The officers opened fire.

The prosecutor says Sauers jumped into the Toms River and was apprehended about an hour later. He was taken to a hospital and the prosecutor says he is expected to survive.

No officers were injured.

The Ocean County prosecutor is investigating.
