Police: 2 Arrested After Officer Fires Shot At Carjacking Suspect

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police in Bucks County and Philadelphia are investigating a double car-jacking that may be connected.

Authorities say it all started in Fairless Hills Township around midnight, when 18-year-old Tyrik Robinson and 19-year-old Nacir Breland stole a Silver Hundai Tuscon.

Hours later, around 4:30 a.m., police say they believe the same pair drove to the Santander Bank at Bustleton Ave and President Street in Philly where they robbed the security guard.

"They took money, keys, and got in the car," said Philadelphia Police Captain Sekou Kinebrew.

Kinebrew says both men then drove off in the cars. Officers caught up with them at near Pennypack Park.

"The Camry stops, male exits the Camry, points a gun at the police officer, the police officer discharges one round, no one is struck," said Kinebrew.

He says the shooter than ran into the park and hid for a short time before police found him.

Both men were arrested, and charges are pending.
