Police Investigating Rite Aid Robbery In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The search is on for a suspect who police say robbed a Rite Aid in Philadelphia's Rhawnhurst neighborhood Friday afternoon.

CBS 3 cameras were on scene on the 8100 block of Roosevelt Boulevard shortly after it happened.

Philadelphia Police say the man forced employees to empty several safes and cash registers.

He claimed to have a gun, but because the manager was able to stay calm, no one was hurt.

"She was calm, cool, collected. Nobody got hurt, there was no excitement. Everything that he told her to do, she did," said Cpt. George Fuchs.

It's unclear how much money he was able to get away with.

He's described as a heavy set male in his 30's or 40's, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
