WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) -- A 64-year-old man from Florida died after a cable snapped and struck him on a demolition site in Wilmington Friday. Police were called to the old GM Plant at 801 Boxwood Road shortly after 4 p.m.

The initial investigation found Atlantic Coast Dismantling, a Boston based company, was contracted to perform demolition work at the plant. The demolition work being conducted involved using heavy machinery and cables to bring down steel beams.

Investigators say Paul Leary, 64, of Miami, was overseeing demolition work at the plant when a cable snapped, striking him in the upper torso and head area.
