Police Investigate Stabbing Outside Pa. Convention Center

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are investigating a stabbing right outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

It happened under the overpass on North 13th Street around 10:30 Thursday night.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a man on the ground struggling with two suspects.

Witnesses say they were using knives to stab the victim multiple times.

Authorities say the 44-year-old victim was stabbed at least two times in his head and upper body.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says, "We have at least one witness who saw very clearly what happened, and the witness even tried to intervene until they saw the perpetrators were using knives to stab the individual."

The victim is in critical condition at Hahnemann Hospital.

Police say they have two suspects in custody and are looking at nearby surveillance cameras for help in their investigation.
