Police Investigate Race-Related Assault Of Villanova Student

VILLANOVA, Pa. (CBS) -- Police in Radnor Township are investigating after a Villanova University student was allegedly the victim of a racially motivated attack on campus.

Authorities say a black female student was approached Thursday night by three white men in a SEPTA tunnel between the main campus and west campus. They allegedly chanted "Trump" as they walked toward her. She told police that one of the men knocked her to the ground and she hit her head.

Radnor Township police and Villanova's Public Safety Department are searching for the suspects.

University officials released a statement calling the incident "deplorable" and that "those found responsible for such reprehensible behavior will face serious consequences."

This is just one of several racially charged acts of violence and vandalism that have happened across the region in the wake of the presidential election results.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
