Police Investigate Double Shooting In Frankford

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are investigating a shooting that wounded two people and led to a crash in front of a hospital in Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 4900 block of Darrah Street in the city's Frankford section.

Authorities say responding officers arrived on scene where they found spent shell casings but no victim.

Police say they followed a trail of blood to Aria Frankford Hospital where they found a man and a woman suffering from gun shot wounds.

Authorities say the the 24-year-old woman was shot in the leg and then ran two blocks to the hospital. The 31-year-old man was shot in the face and the back. He was being taken to the hospital in an SUV when the driver crashed into a pole in front of the hospital's main entrance.

Both victims were transferred to Aria Torresdale Hospital's trauma center, where the woman was listed in stable condition. The man was in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV was not injured. He was being questioned by police.

Investigators believe the shooting may have been drug-related because cash and pills were found at the scene of the shooting.

Police did not immediately release any information on the suspect(s).
