Police Investigate After Human Bones Are Found In Tioga

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are working to identify human bones found in the city's Tioga section.

Investigators say bike patrol officers discovered the bones underneath a blue tarp in a lot. The discovery was made on N. 17th Street on Tuesday night.

Police also found a woman's sneakers and clothes near the bones. Neighbors are disturbed by the discovery.

"Heartbreaking," described area resident Rosalyn Campbell. "It's very heartbreaking to see remains of a human being out here. It's very heartbreaking. It's sad actually. You know, I just pray that they can identify the person and get all the remains out of here."

So far, the medical examiner has not placed a time frame on the time of death.
