Police Interrupt Robbery In North Philadelphia; Man Shot And Wounded

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say they interrupted a robbery and shooting-in-progress overnight in North Philadelphia.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday near Broad Street and Hunting Park Avenue in the Hunting Park section of the city.

Authorities say officers on patrol witnessed an altercation with one man pulling out a gun and shooting another.

"During the course of the robbery, the shooter fired three shots, striking one of three robbery victims in the wrist," said Chief Inspector Scott Small. "It struck an artery. He lost a lot of blood."

Police chased down the gunman and arrested him.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators were looking at surveillance video that may have captured the incident.
