Police: Injured K-9 Officer Appears On "Road To Recovery" At Penn Vet

READING, Pa. (AP) — Police in eastern Pennsylvania say a police dog injured in a fall appears to be "on the road to recovery."

Reading police say K-9 officer Cody fell 15 to 20 feet off a catwalk while helping his handler search for possible intruders at Southwest Middle School on Friday night.

The 3-year-old Belgian Malinois was flown to the University of Pennsylvania veterinary hospital due to concerns that he might have internal bleeding.

Reading police said on their Facebook page on Sunday that if all goes well in the next 24 hours, veterinarians will stitch up a cut on one of Cody's legs that he received in the fall.

Police said earlier that Cody had improved and doctors were optimistic.
