Police In Berks County Searching For Armed Kidnapping Suspect With Multiple Warrants Out For His Arrest

HAMBURG, Pa. (CBS) – Police in Berks County are searching for a suspect who kidnapped a man then abandoned him at a nearby reservoir.

On Feb. 16, 2015, the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Marshall Glenn McGinty, reportedly entered the residence on Hawk Mountain Road in Albany Township.

The victim, who was house-sitting the home, found McGinty inside the house around 4:45 p.m.

When that victim entered, McGinty pointed an AK-47 assault rifle at him before ordering him to get face down on the floor.

McGinty then tied the victim's wrists together and took his wallet and keys.

Around 6 p.m., McGinty drove the victim in his car to a Santander Bank at 120 South Centre Avenue in Pottsville, where he withdrew $60 from the victim's account.

McGinty then drove the victim to the Hamburg reservoir, where he freed the victim's hands and let him go before driving away in the victim's car.

Police say the AK 47 is the property of the homeowner and was not located inside the house.

The victim's car is described as a dark blue 2012 Honda Fit with PA registration GTD-7635.

There are two arrest warrants for McGinty in Berks County and he has probation violations in Lehigh and Schuylkill Counties.

Charges against McGinty include kidnapping, unlawful restraint, robbery, criminal trespass, theft, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
