Police, Firefighters Help Deliver Baby In NJ Apartment

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Newark police officers and firefighters have joined forces to make a special delivery on Thanksgiving.

They came to the aid of a woman who unexpectedly went into labor at a Hunterdon Street apartment around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The woman soon gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

The new mom and her child were taken to a hospital and both were said to be doing well. Their names were not released.

City officials praised the work by officers with Newark's Police Emergency Response Unit and Newark Fire Engine 6.
