Police Chase In Delaware County Ends With Crash

COLLINGDALE, Pa. (CBS) -- A police chase in Delaware County left a portion of Chester Pike in Collingdale closed Wednesday morning.

Both the northbound and southbound sides were affected between Calcon Hook Road and MacDade Boulevard.

Authorities say a police cruiser was struck by a black SUV after police attempted to pull the driver over.

Around 7:12 a.m. police attempted to pull over the suspect for an unknown reason and authorities say the suspect drove away. At some point, officials say the driver hit the police cruiser and fled from the scene.

Police say the driver struck two more vehicles and a house.

Police say the suspect then left his car and attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Authorities took the suspect into custody a short time later in Tinicum Township.

One person suffered minor injuries.

Officers say a gun was recovered from the car.
