Police Continue To Search For Answers After Bodies Of 2 Babies Found In North Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Authorities are still investigating the discovery of the bodies of two babies on a trash strewn lot in North Philadelphia.

Late Saturday at Palethorp and Berks Streets near Norris Square, a nine year-old and his friend made the chilling discovery of what they thought at first were baby dolls, but turned out to be a boy and a girl.

On Sunday, the boy's father called police Sunday, and during the investigation, the Medical Examiner found the small corpses had already been autopsied. When and where that was performed is under investigation, as is the age of the babies.

The Special Victims Unit is canvassing the area, looking for video that might shed light on recent reports of people in a black pickup truck dumping trash in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
