Police Confirm Identity Of Teen Struck And Killed In Delaware County

CLIFTON HEIGHTS, Pa. (CBS) -- Clifton Heights police confirmed the identity of one of the two people struck by a pickup truck and another vehicle on Sunday night.

The accident happened on Sunday night in Clifton Heights on West Baltimore Pike. Officials say two vehicles collided and one ended up on the sidewalk, where it struck the two victims.

Eighteen-year-old Dante Desimone, a freshman lacrosse player at Neumann University, died after being rushed to the hospital. Another victim, reportedly a current Upper Darby High School student, is in stable but critical condition after being transferred to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He's likely facing surgery.

On Monday morning, the Upper Darby School District released a statement that read in part:

"The Upper Darby School District is deeply saddened to learn of last evening's tragic accident that injured one of our current high school students and claimed the life of one of our recent graduates…The District offers its heartfelt condolences to the families involved and will support them in any way possible as they deal with this horrible tragedy."

The police department says the crash is currently under investigation.
