PENNSAUKEN, NJ (CBS) -- A Camden County man is in jail after being charged with the beating death of a 2-year-old child.

Twenty-four-year-old Zachary Tricoche is charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend's son.

Police say they arrived at the home on Mansion Boulevard in Pennsauken, New Jersey around 11:30 Saturday night, shortly after the boy's mother called for help.

"He just threw up, now he's unresponsive. Can you please hurry up and send somebody please?" The boy's mother pleaded during a 9-1-1 call.

During the nearly five minute 9-1-1 call you can hear the child's mother and Tricoche talk to the operator as they attempted to revive the child.

Operator: "Do you see his chest rising or falling?
Mother: "Is his chest rising or falling?"
Tricoche: "No."
Mother: "No. It's not doing anything."

The boy was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he died from his injuries about a half an hour later.

Tricoche is being held in the Camden County Jail.

He is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday.
