Police: Broken Water Pipe At Senior Campus In Gloucester Township Displaces Several Residents

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – Just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Gloucester Township police responded for the report of a fire alarm activation at the Gloucester Township Senior Campus on Woodbury Turnersville Road in Blackwood.

Police say that upon arrival they found water flooding the hallway and some rooms, creating a hazardous condition for the occupants.

Authorities say several senior citizens were assisted to a nearby community center while officials assessed the conditions.

Police say it was found that a sprinkler pipe had broken, causing flooding conditions that affected three floors of the building, including the apartments of 16 residents.

Officials say no one was injured during the incident and many residents left to stay with their relatives.

Police say nine apartments sustained severe damage that required off site lodging for some occupants.
