Police: Boy, Girl Hit By Gunfire In Chester

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say two children were wounded by gunfire in the violence-wracked Philadelphia-area city of Chester.

Police said a 13-year-old boy from Brookhaven was shot in the abdomen and an 11-year-old Chester girl was shot in the left thigh just after 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Officials said they were taken by private vehicle to Crozer-Chester Medical Center and then airlifted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where they were reported in stable condition.

Witnesses said two unidentified males were seen running from the area. The circumstances of the shooting weren't immediately clear. No arrests were immediately reported.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Chester police.
